Managing Director (Qld)
Gerard Paynter is the Managing Director of Barton Deakin’s Queensland division. He is responsible for Barton Deakin’s office where he takes primary responsibility for clients on Brisbane City Council and Queensland Opposition matters. He also assists Queensland clients with Commonwealth Government matters.
He brings to Barton Deakin a 20 year professional history in the Queensland corporate and public sectors and a strong working knowledge of government business matters in the state.
Gerard works with Barton Deakin’s clients on a wide variety of government business, regulatory, legislative and approvals matters. He has particular specialties in transport, health, education, energy and utilities.
He is an experienced Liberal National Party figure having been a Queensland and Federal Young Liberal president and a member of the Queensland State Executive for five years. He has extensive experience in managing LNP campaigns at the state and federal level. He was a member of the Central Campaign Committee for the successful re-election of Brisbane Lord Mayor, Graham Quirk, and LNP councillors in 2012 and 2016. He held a central campaign role within the LNP for the 2013 Federal Election.
Gerard holds degrees in Commerce and Arts (government and economics) from the University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma in Finance and Investment. Gerard is a member of Brisbane City Council’s Transport Advisory Board.
