New Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre (76 KB)
SUMMARY:
The Coalition will build a new ‘world class ‘convention and exhibition centre in Sydney at a site yet to be determined.
The Coalition considers this project so urgent that ‘shadow’ Expressions of Interest will be invited prior to the 26 March 2011 State Election and an independent feasibility study will be commenced to expedite construction after taking office.
The independent feasibility study will involve the Property Council of Australia, Tourism Transport Forum, Sydney Chamber of Commerce, Infrastructure Partnerships Australia and the Australian Tourism Export Council.
A three person Sydney Convention Facility Expert Panel will be established to supervise the initial procurement stage.
Potential sites include the Sydney Entertainment Centre site, Glebe Island/White Bay, Central Station and Sydney Olympic Park.
The independent feasibility study will be completed by 31 December 2010.
